The Château de l'Isle

Versailles in miniature: this sumptuous castle was built in 1696 in the classical French style by Charles de Chandieu, an officer in the French army. In front of the building, families of ducks frolic on the pond in the courtyard.

Thanks to the river la Venoge, the castle benefits from magnificent French gardens as well as a pond delimited by two tree-lined paths. This former residence was originally inhabited by the Chandieu family until the end of the 18th century. Then, in the 19th century, François Louis Roulet from Neuchâtel resided there, before the property was transmitted by marriage to the Cornaz de Montet Cudrefin family.

In 1876, the commune purchased the Château de L’Isle and restored it. The building now houses common areas, housing and classrooms. It has been under monument protection since 1941.
